DESIGN
Design is everywhere. The chair that we are sitting on, the computer screen that you are looking at or even the background of this blog is created by following a design process.

We learned about function and aesthetics. Two factors that are often difficult to be managed by designers. While a lot of designers are often concerned with the aesthetics of their product, the functionality is often compromised. While some chairs might be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, I really feel how comfortable they are.
Design is about being innovative. One good example is the use of foam as a material for furniture. Gone are the days when wood is the only material used for furniture making.
TECHNOLOGY
Technology includes objects designed by people, and also ways of arranging and using them for practical use.Borrowing words from the computer field, these two aspects of technology consitute hardware and software, respectively. For example, furniture is hardware while the plan for arranging is software.
In examining any example of technology. from a handbag to a bedroom furniture arrangement, City Technology asks what problem the object was designed to solve, how well it solves, and how it could be redesigned to solve the problem better.
Technology is all around us, including all the artifacts, systems and environments designed to make life better and easier for us. Technology is available for analysis and redesign at minimal or no cost.
The study of technology is uniquely engaging to children, and a powerful vechicle for intergrating maths, science, social studies and language arts.
